PF CHang

I had visited P.F.Chang's upon recommendation by a friend. P.F.Chang's offers freshly made Pan-Asian cuisine, launched in the UK mid 2017. I had heard so much about the reputation that P.F.Chang's had in the US and Dubai, so simply HAD to give it a go. It is located near Leicester Square station, very central and ideal after the theatre or an afternoon out in London. The atmosphere in the restaurant was buzzing and lively, especially at 10pm when we arrived. All tables were full of groups breaking their fast at Iftar time, ideal as the meat is all halal and relatively close to Goodge Street mosque for prayer time. For starters, I ordered the infamous 'ORIGINAL DYNAMITE SHRIMP' - always imitated, never duplicated. Crispy tempura battered shrimp, spicy Sriracha aioli, spring onions. I absolutely LOVED this dish and was tempted to get another 5 portions (but held myself back). I loved the coating, the crispy shell and the large prawns. It finished...

Halal Honeymoon In Santorini

Halal Honeymoon In Santorini

Santorini, one of my dream destinations of 2017 - and I was lucky enough to travel to the beautiful Santorini for my honeymoon at the end of last year. Yes, I got married *cue the wedding bells*. When we were deciding where to go for a couple of days, there was simply no contesting. Actually, we were toying between the Amalfi Coast (Positano amongst others) and Santorini. In the end, we chose to travel to Santorini for 4 night, 5 days and it really was the BEST decision I've ever made. Hotel First and foremost, we booked The Dream in Oia (Deluxe Villa with Jetted Outdoor Tub). We decided to stay in Oia as it is the picture perfect postcard destination for carved out houses in the cliffs with the typical cave houses of the villagers. For those who want to wake up to the pure white buildings with colourful roofs that are typical of Greek architecture, Oia is the place to stay! The Dream...

Only 24 Hours in Amsterdam?

Only 24 Hours in Amsterdam?

Travelling to Amsterdam was spontaneous. I mean spontaneous in the most spontaneous way possible. My good friend had recently quit her job she felt displeased in, with an position in a company she desired (kudos to her)! As a treat to herself, she booked a week in Amsterdam, staying at the Banks Mansion Hotel. As we were chatting a few days before she flew out, she asked if I wanted to come for a few days. Naturally I laughed it off. 72 hours later, I found myself at City Airport, waiting for my flight to Amsterdam. I booked a flight for one night, staying in Amsterdam for less than 24 hours. I figured, hey why not - you only live once *trying to justify my actions*. Before I met my friend, I visited the Aya Sofya mosque in Amsterdam to freshen up and also to check it out as photos online showed it to be incredible beautiful, located on the bank...

Exclusive Helicopter Tour Above Central London!

Exclusive Helicopter Tour Above Central London!

To celebrate my graduation (and marriage), my siblings surprised me with a HeliAir Helicopter fight over London (link here). They told me to keep that weekend available, so I knew they were planning something; a helicopter ride over London was the LAST thing on my mind. We were driving for over an hour towards the (for me) unknown destination. I was told to dress comfortable and warm. So I did. The weekend before, I purchased a hat and gloves - yes, I do not otherwise own these cumbersome items. Anyway, as we approached the helicopter base, I started to get clues and as we drove into the carpark it hit me! I was going to fly inside a helicopter. To cut a long story short, I was overwhelmed and couldn't believe the kindness of my siblings. We were first briefed by the pilot, told all the safety information and we were ready to go! We walked towards the field and there it was,...

My Dream Destinations 2018

My Dream Destinations 2018

Hello and HAPPY NEW YEAR 2018! I can not believe how quickly 2017 flew, I feel like it was just yesterday that I started this page, but in fact I starting blogging in 2015. Last year I published a list of my Dream Destinations of 2017. They were Greece, Australia, Portugal, Scotland, Italy, Spain, Thailand and Oman. I was fortunate enough to do a lot of travelling in 2017. 2017 took me to Greece (Santorini), Italy (Milan, Venice, Florence and Bologna), Netherlands (Amsterdam), Malta, France (Paris) and to a few cities in England. Again this year, I am compiling a list of my dream destinations of 2018 and hope that I can travel to them all this year! Ethiopia I shouldn't really be allowed to add Ethiopia on this list as I recently visited in the summer of 2016. Never the less, Ethiopia has repeatedly topped bucket-list holiday guides and has been voted the go-to place for travel last year. I usually go...

10 Effective Positive Affirmations

10 Effective Positive Affirmations

Ever heard the saying, thoughts become things? Well, Neuroscience has proven that ‘neuroplasticity,' the ongoing remodelling of brain structure and function, occurs throughout life. It can be affected by life experiences, genes, biological agents, and by behaviour, as well as by thought patterns. What does this mean? Essentially, by practicing positive thought patterns (affirmations) repetitively, we actually create neuroplasticity in the area of the brain that processes what we are thinking about. Through this practice, we can change the structure and neural pattern of our brain. The key is repetition so you flood your brain with the positive thought. | Follow my Instagram page @iaminaplace for daily affirmations | I have chosen 10 positive affirmations that I believe can help to change your mindset towards life and help redirect your mentality. The key topics are happiness, love, success, confidence, self-esteem, health, peace, mindfulness and inner calm. It is imperative that the environment around you is positive, filled with peace and spiritual nourishment.  1. Happiness is my...

Packing Cubes: Gimmick Or Game Changer

Packing Cubes: Gimmick Or Game Changer

My good friend, Kyomi, introduced my to Packing Cubes through her amazing blog 'Wading Wade'. Her 'meet the traveller' series allow the reader to delve into the life of a traveller, and gain practical skills and tips. Kyomi interviewed me back in November - read here! Packing Cubes What are they? Packing cubes are zippered fabric containers, usually in a rectangular shape, for organising your items and making them easier to find in your luggage. They come in a range of sizes and are often sold as sets. How do they work? Using packing organisers has many advantages: Pack more efficiently – Each cube can be dedicated to a set of clothing, and it's much easier to pack when you know what goes in each cube. Packing with cubes can help reduce disorganisation and sporadic additions of clothes. Find things easily – Packing cubes can work like a drawer system. When away, you can take out the relevant cube rather than rummaging around at the bottom of...

I Am In Bologna, Italy

I Am In Bologna, Italy

Bologna had quickly become one of my favourite cities that I have visited! The narrow porticos, and beautiful architecture have stunned me and left me with such a sweet taste, for which I most definitely would love to return. We explored Bologna on our last day of the 4 day North Italy stay. I wish I had more time here (I am starting to see a common theme of wishing I had more time). I have compiled a list of FREE things to do in Bologna in a couple of hours. Bologna is a perfect in between; not too touristy but pretty enough to leave one mesmerised. La Piccola Venezia Bologna has a number of secret canals that I came across whilst browsing for things to do in Bologna. This canal, La Piccola Venezia is a little gem in the centre of Bologna. It's not anything spectacular, compared to the canals of Venice but it is a heart-warming sight to see in the morning during a stroll. It's...

I Am In Florence, Italy

I Am In Florence, Italy

Florence, Florence, Florence. Beautiful Florence. It has been one of my dreams to visit Florence and so I made sure that I gave myself a day to explore some of Florence during this North Italy trip. I know that one day in Florence isn't enough, and I most definitely want to return to stroll around Florence and the greater Tuscany for a week. The day before, Venice treated us with cold weather; and then Florence treated us to sunny 13 degree weather! It was like a dream, honestly. So, here's what we did for the 6 hours that we had in Florence. The Duomo  As soon we arrived in Florence at the main station, the first place we walked to was the Duomo. The architecture and façade of the Duomo looks almost fake at first sight; the exterior is faced with polychrome marble panels in various shades of green and pink bordered by white. Entrance in the Duomo is free, there is an obvious queue...

I Am In Milan, Italy

I Am In Milan, Italy

My resolution for 2017 is to travel to new places, and what else but travel more have I been doing! I was able to free up 4 days at the end of the week, so decided to travel to the North of Italy. I came across £25 return flights to Milan so decided to go ahead and book them! I didn't want to stay in Milan for all 4 days, so took a look around the region and planned a 4 day adventure through 4 cities. The first is Milan. I then visited Venice, Florence, and Bologna - keep an eye out for further posts detailing my trip. I only had 4 hours in Milan, and so managed to squeeze in the main landmarks and sights within that time. There really isn't much to do/see in Milan, so a few hours is definitely enough to see everything. 1. Duomo di Milano (Milan Cathedral)  The Duomo is the fifth largest Christian church in the world. The cathedral...
