10 Effective Positive Affirmations

10 Effective Positive Affirmations

Ever heard the saying, thoughts become things? Well, Neuroscience has proven that ‘neuroplasticity,' the ongoing remodelling of brain structure and function, occurs throughout life. It can be affected by life experiences, genes, biological agents, and by behaviour, as well as by thought patterns. What does this mean? Essentially, by practicing positive thought patterns (affirmations) repetitively, we actually create neuroplasticity in the area of the brain that processes what we are thinking about. Through this practice, we can change the structure and neural pattern of our brain. The key is repetition so you flood your brain with the positive thought. | Follow my Instagram page @iaminaplace for daily affirmations | I have chosen 10 positive affirmations that I believe can help to change your mindset towards life and help redirect your mentality. The key topics are happiness, love, success, confidence, self-esteem, health, peace, mindfulness and inner calm. I Don't Know Who To Travel With!

I Don't Know Who To Travel With!

Choosing the right travel companion is a key part of (almost) guaranteeing a smooth sailing holiday. Although frequently overlooked, I cannot emphasise the importance of selecting a travel partner carefully, and to not simply plan travels with anyone available at the time. As a young child, I only ever travelled with my parents, immediate or extended family. At that age, this is great. As a young adult and into my early 20s, I became more selective with which 'friends' I wanted to travel with. There's a famous saying that states that: 'You don't know the true colours of a person until you live with them, travel with them, or have dealings with them.' I can't vouch for this more. Although I have not personally had any issues when travelling with friends, I do notice the importance of having similar interests and lifestyle when on a holiday with someone. Something as basic as where to eat could cause an issue if one person wants to go somewhere a...

I am at Darwin Brasserie

I am at Darwin Brasserie

I'm not a huge 'brunch' person - I think it's more of an American/ European thing to do. Us Brits have begun to brunch more so now, with the coming of the 'hipster' trends. A friend recommended visiting the Darwin Brasserie for breakfast/lunch and of course, I'm not one to ignore recommendations and managed to book a table for 10.30am on May Bank Holiday Monday. The Darwin is located in the Sky Garden. It is free to enter the Sky Garden (with a booking) but separate pre-booking of the resturants is usually required. I opted for the buffet continental breakfast. When booking, I specifically asked for a table with a nice view. There are some tables for two located on the edge (as I was seated), but there are also some tables more inside the restaurant for larger groups. My first plate of food was made up of pastries, nuts and some fruit. I went for seconds with some bread, croissant...

I am in Camden Town

I am in Camden Town

Camden Town (Camden) is most certainly a must-visit for anyone visiting or living in London. Although one may not think of it as an 'attraction', Camden is most certainly an extremely popular area with everything from vintage clothes to Ethiopian coffee and much more. I've always found Camden to be buzzing with people and the atmosphere is constantly alive regardless of the day or time of year. The prices at the markets are really a steal and I have found that the quality of items here are also great. Camden is one of those places, that when trying to find a gift for someone, is an almost safe bet that you will most definitely stumble across something worth purchasing. Camden is only one tube stop away from Euston making it a great location to travel to. The Camden Locks are very pretty and during the summer months, a ton of people flock to relax by the lock. Just behind the Locks...

Best Free Skyline View of London!

Best Free Skyline View of London!

I consider myself a tourist even in my own city, London. I try to regularly adventure through parks, taste new restaurants and meet new people at group meet-ups. I recently found out about the Sky Garden at the top of the (relatively) new Walkie Talkie building. The Sky Garden is free to visit with prior booking. Once inside, there isn't a time limit and we were free to purchase drinks/ snacks and to sit down and wander around for as long as we wished. We chose 3pm as our entry time to allow us an experience of both the day and night (sunset is now 4pm)! The Sky Garden was fairly busy (due to the festive time of year) but numbers were controlled due to the requirement of a previous booking. I wouldn't really call this a 'garden', there were a few pots of plants here and there, and it DEFINITELY did not feel garden-like. Never-the-less, it was a pretty location and...
